Open World Markets to DuPage County

Foreign-Direct Investment (FDI) is a powerful engine for economic growth and prosperity—it creates jobs, spurs innovation, and drives exports. DuPage County is home to over 1,200 locations of foreign-owned firms, representing 43 countries, that make a significant contribution to our economy.

Choose DuPage has partnered with organizations such as Intersect Illinois, the Chicago Regional Growth Initiative and Chicago Metro Exports to improve our competitiveness on the global stage, engage in international trade, facilitate export initiatives, and foster foreign-direct investment. The pandemic has hampered many of DuPage’s initiatives, but opportunities remain to showcase all that DuPage County has to offer on an international level.

We must continue to elevate Choose DuPage and DuPage County to world markets and seek out opportunities to showcase the benefits of locating a foreign-owned company in DuPage.

ACTION PLAN

1. In conjunction with regional economic agencies, conduct an outreach campaign to foreign-owned companies to open the line of communication and introduce Choose DuPage as a resource for companies considering locating or expanding in the United States.
   
   
2. Continue to market the many advantages of locating a foreign-owned business in DuPage County.
   
   
3. Identify a post-COVID plan for fostering new foreign-direct investment opportunities in DuPage: including attending conferences such as Select USA and Select Chicago, hosting virtual tours of DuPage County for prospective companies, and offering programs targeted to the needs of foreign-owned business.
