Woodridge Residential, Commercial and Retail Development Rebounds in 2014

Woodridge experienced positive developments in the commercial and retail sectors during 2014. In the spring, Art Van Furniture officially opened its 68,000-square-foot store located at the northwest corner of Boughton Road and Woodward Avenue. The Village also became home to Hobby Lobby, which located in the former Sports Authority storefront at the Centerpointe Shopping Center.

County Approves Green Building Incentives

The DuPage County Board approved an incentive program to encourage developers and property owners to “build green” projects throughout the County. Following the approval of these incentives by the Stormwater Management, Environmental, Economic Development and Development Committees, members voted unanimously to implement a list of incentives that reduce permitting time and costs for projects that qualify under standards set by the U.S. Green Building Council. Suburban office vacancies hit six-year low, indicating strong market gains

As Chicagoland continues to attract major users and headquarters including Advocate Health Care, Duchossois Group, and Capital One, the seven-county region is exhibiting strong market gains, according to a report by global real estate firm CBRE Group, Inc. Vacancy rates in suburban offices continue to drop, absorbing over 1.1 million square feet of existing office space in the fourth quarter of 2014. Continue reading
