The Village of Winfield, incorporated in 1921, is located in central DuPage County, which is ranked as one of the top growth areas in the Chicago metropolitan area. Residents within the community enjoy all the pleasantries of rural life, with Winfield's many trees and relatively small size, but also enjoy the many services of urban life. Currently, the Village relies on Lake Michigan to provide water to the community, and receives its gas from Nicor and electric from CommonWealth Edison. For those requiring air transportation, Winfield is located approximately 21 miles from O'Hare International Airport, approximately 20 miles from Midway Airport and only 5 miles from the DuPage County Airport. Finally, Winfield is also home to Central DuPage Hospital, which employs approximately 2,100 people.
