International employers, a full range of shopping, innovative schools, culture, recreational fun amid beautiful parks and significant architecture create a quality community -- earning St. Charles its reputation as the Pride of the Fox! The Hotel Baker, Pheasant Run Resort and Convention Center, fine restaurants, over 1200 hotel rooms, Scarecrow Festival, Art & Music Festival, and the Kane County Flea Market are just some of the reasons this picturesque city on the Fox River is a destination for travel and pleasure.

St. Charles is in DuPage and Kane Counties, 35 miles west of Chicago. Over 1,300 businesses in 3 distinct business districts employ over 20,000 workers, and are assisted by a vibrant Chamber of Commerce, Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, and the Downtown St. Charles Partnership.

In 2000, St. Charles was a GREAT AMERICAN MAIN STREET AWARD winner, recognized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as having one of the top five downtown revitalization programs in the nation! Over $55,000,000 has been invested since 1994!

Charlestowne Mall, Pheasant Run, and the DuPage County Airport surround our east side 500+ acre Business Park. To the west, our busy Randall Road corridor is home to the Kane County Fairgrounds and the Kane County Judicial Center.

Founded in 1834, St. Charles is the center of Kane County, 35 miles west of downtown Chicago and mid-way between Elgin to the north and Aurora to the south. State highways 25, 31, 38, and 64 cross through St. Charles, as do county thoroughfares Randall and Kirk Roads.

The legend of Charlemagne is a local lore reminding elected officials and dedicated citizens that St. Charles remains a place where all are free to worship, work, play, and learn. As you visit St. Charles, watch for those businesses and organizations displaying well-deserved IMAGE awards, given annually by the Chamber of Commerce to recognize those who work to improve the community.
