The Village of Bloomingdale's nearly 22,000 residents still enjoy an unhurried lifestyle in a community situated amid plenty of open spaces. While boasting a wide and varied commercial/industrial base, 85 percent of the Village's eight square miles is residential property and open space. Commercial, office and retail development have been carefully integrated into the community.
Five major shopping areas - including the 1.3 million square foot Stratford Square Mall - and several surrounding convenience centers offer all the goods and services residents need.
Bloomingdale also offers residents a wide and exciting variety of housing options. Residential developments were planned and built to take full advantage of nature's existing landscape.
The Village continues to balance a reduced reliance on property taxes as a source of operating revenues while still expanding its revenue base.
Residents have almost 30 clubs, organizations and civic groups they can join to become actively involved in various aspects of community life.
While Bloomingdale's business and residential growth have been prevalent, it has not been at the expense of the Village's heritage. The two-story frame schoolhouse built in 1891 and affectionately referred to as "the old Village Hall," still stands as the cornerstone of "Old Town Bloomingdale."
As more families and businesses discover all Bloomingdale has to offer, the Village will continue to be recognized as "the best of all worlds" well into the 21st century.
