The Village of Bartlett was incorporated in 1891 as a farm property owned by Luther Bartlett along the railroad line. Today, Bartlett encompasses sixteen square miles and is home to over 41,000 residents. Although Bartlett has been a high-growth community over the past twenty years, it has maintained its friendly small town atmosphere.
Bartlett s future is one of continued, well-planned growth, including an active program to attract business and industry to Bartlett. Available land, a pro-growth administration, incentives and ongoing infrastructure and streetscape improvements have sparked new development and redevelopment. Downtown Bartlett is being revitalized with the addition of the mixed-use transportation oriented development of Bartlett Town Center including residential, commercial and retail buildings adjacent to the new Metra commuter station that serves 1,200 riders per day.
In the DuPage portion of Bartlett, Brewster Creek Business Park is being developed as a public-private partnership between the Village and the landowner, Elmhurst Chicago Stone Company. 670 acres of a vacated stone quarry are being reclaimed for the fastest-growing business park in the area. As of spring 2008, 55 companies are now located in the park, bringing in over 1,000 employees per day and many more customers.
Located approximately 30 miles northwest of the City of Chicago, Bartlett has the major transportation networks (US Route 20, IL Route 59, I-90 and the Elgin-O Hare Expressway) needed to serve the greater Chicagoland region. A highly educated and trained workforce is available with customized training programs offered by nearby Elgin Community College.
